I have noticed it becomes almost impossible to win any Religious or Political argument with Liberals over thirty. Even faced with overwhelming evidence, they cannot  seem to adjust to the realities of life.  Most of them are surrounded by friends and relatives who support and reinforce their misguided and false beliefs. Facts are not as important as getting their free stuff or being invited to an Elite function. They are now a member of something bigger than themselves and they cannot let go.

I wrote “The Robin Hood Lies” so our children will have a balanced view of history before they are sent away to the Socialist Indoctrination Camps, AKA the Institutes of Higher Learning.

[Chapter:   Introduction]

Today, and for the better part of the 20th century, we are told untrue stories about the evil Capitalist and peace loving Socialist. We are bombarded with Hollywood movies from the Left coast about the greedy Capitalist. Michael Moore especially distorts the descriptions of Capitalists and Capitalism.  Aided by a liberal media, he is rarely challenged and is allowed to waddle in his own stupor.  Our students are taught half-truths about brutalities of Communism and the realities Capitalism - two opposite ends of our economic continuum.

The Left vehemently teach children the evils of the American Capitalist, but remain mute on the subject of Stalin murdering an estimated 50,000,000 people in the name of Socialism. They refer to Hitler and the Nationalist Socialist Party as Nazis, not as Socialists. Socialists invade countries and overthrow a Capitalist democracy with intentions of creating puppet satellites of Nazi Germany or the USSR.  Then they take the defeated country’s resources and send them home to mother Russia or the Fatherland.  They feel perfectly justified in taking what belongs to others in the name of justice and fairness.  We have all heard sayings such as “To the victors belong the spoils,” or a multitude of similar platitudes and rationalizations. Taking from the rich and giving to the poor is an underlying theme of this book.

When the U.S. frees a country we are unjustly called Imperialists.  Colin Powell, our former Secretary of State, was in England at a fairly large conference when asked if our plans for Iraq were just an example of ‘empire building’ by George Bush.  He answered by saying, “Over the years, the United States has sent many of its fine young men and women into great peril to fight for freedom beyond our borders. The only amount of land we have ever asked for in return was enough to bury the ones who did not return.”  The room became respectfully silent.

Communism is a large pyramid scheme which worked as long as the Soviet Union was expanding.   In 1979, the Soviet Union was stopped in their tank tracks. After 65 years, they were defeated in Afghanistan, and like a house of cards built on sand it collapsed. The U.S.S.R. imploded from decades of poor production, lack of competition and an anemic economy caused by the economic cancer called Socialism.  Socialism does not work.  You can only take from the rich and give to the poor until everyone is equally poor, or as Margaret Thatcher, the former Prime Minister of England so eloquently said, “Eventually, you run out of therich.”

Capitalism teaches us that through hard work and self-discipline, anyone can be rich. I have traveled to third-world countries and found they believe everyone in America is rich.  I have seen children swimming in rivers polluted with the population’s own excrement, diving for pennies thrown by wealthier citizenry.  Compared to these wretched individuals, I feel that even our poor are rich, relatively speaking.  I believe if you work hard, and live long enough, everyone in America can become a millionaire!  Henry Ford said it best, “Whether you think you can or think you can’t, you’re right!”

In a 1975 interview on the Phil Donahue show, Milton Friedman said, and I paraphrase here, “history has proven time and again that Capitalism is the best economic system to help elevate the poor.  No other system has ever created innovation better than Capitalism.  Do you think Henry Ford would have invented the assembly line in communist Russia?  Would Albert Einstein have made his discoveries under Hitler?”

[The Robin Hood Lies] features the stories of Capitalists whom I have personally met and known. These are the real stories of real people and how, as Capitalists, they have embraced the life and times during which they have lived.  Their stories emphasize my belief  that it is our duty to teach our children what made America great is freedom, competition, hard work,  and that the most important of all these is our freedom!  We live in the freest country since history began!

No arsenal, or no weapon in the arsenals of the world is as formidable as the will and moral courage of free men and women.”

Ronald Reagan
